Clarity, creativity, and emotional impact that engages and connects with readers every time is what makes a good writer.
Now, write down which of the following characteristics you think you already have, and which you lack. I believe that to be a good writer you must:
- Be organised.
- Be or become creative.
- Believe in your ability to entertain readers.
- Have pride in your work.
- Be or become a storyteller.
- Have something to say.
- Have views on the most important issues of the day.
- Enjoy writing.
- Have the time to write.
- Have a good grasp of grammar or the ability to learn as you go.
- Be disciplined.
- Be determined.
- Understand the importance of editing your work to make it as ‘clean’ as possible (there will be many posts on editing in the future).
Have you realised that there is not one characteristic in the above list that you cannot cultivate? All are achievable and will be taught in these posts.
