How to Transform Words into Stories — A Review

I have read many ‘how to’ books on writing, but none quite like this one. Pat Grayson, a seasoned writer and publisher, offers a wealth of insight for upcoming writers. All writers, especially those new to the industry, will find actionable and supportive advice among the book’s 400 odd pages.
This work is a comprehensive guide, full of varied topics for writers to explore. Pat Grayson provides an index to easily navigate these topics. Unlike most books that focus on either the craft of writing or aspects of self-publishing, Pat Grayson covers both. New writers can hone their creative skills and learn about genres and editing, while seasoned writers can benefit from chapters on publishing, marketing, and promotion. The detailed sections on the publishing industry and book marketing will help new authors avoid common pitfalls and achieve successful launches.
Grayson includes rich and detailed quotes from other master writers, making this potentially the only book on writing you’ll need. He avoids a dogmatic approach, instead using advice from various experts to support his points and show different methods. Writers can adopt the advice that best suits their needs.
Another enjoyable aspect is the ‘workbook’ approach, with practical tasks and exercises to help writers apply the techniques discussed in each chapter. Writers can implement these learnings as they go.
As an author and writing coach, I highly recommend this book for writers. I wish it had been available when I was starting my writing career.
