Writing as a Shared Journey
The Dagara people of East Africa do not have a word for sex. Sex is a concept; a journey with the partner. It is not seen as a one-off situation, but a journey together that lasts for the rest of their life. Like all journeys there are twists and turns, but the mere fact that the journey is together is what really gives them an interesting framework for sex. In much the same way, writing a book is a journey—one that mirrors this idea of shared progress, growth, and unexpected turns.
Stories That Evolve with the Writer
Writing a Book Is a Journey, with its twists and turns that you were not aware of at the outset, and that you also grow along with the story. As Australian writer Michelle de Kretser states, “Art (and writing) is about risk.”
